Castles and manors
In Södermanland there are over 400 castles and large country manors. Several of them are situated in the municipality of Gnesta — perhaps the best known are Elghammar castle, Mälby manor, Norrtuna castle and Skeppsta. During the summer, some of the owners open their estates to the public and offer guided tours for visitors.
An experience not to be missed is Musik på Sörmländska Slott och Herresäten, a festival of music held in historical castles and manor houses throughout the region. From June to August, some 70 concerts are held in all.
